We remember the life and legacy of Sterling Trantham (1957–2025), a beloved photographer, professor, and storyteller whose lens captured the spirit of our world with depth and compassion.
A memorial show honoring Sterling’s lifetime of photography will be on display May 30th–June 28th at the Mad Hatter Gallery, with an opening reception on June 6th from 5–8 PM.
In his memory, Sterling’s partner, Amy Thompson West, has established the Sterling Trantham Memorial Photography Fund, a field of interest non-endowed fund created to inspire future generations of photographers. This fund will support programs that engage youth in exploring the art of photography, photojournalism, and documentary work—carrying forward Sterling’s passion and commitment to visual storytelling.
We invite you to honor his legacy, celebrate his remarkable work, and be part of continuing his vision.
