SUMMARY:10th Annual FBA Film and Zine Festival
DESCRIPTION:Celebrate a decade of independent storytelling at the 10th Annual Feminist Border Arts Film & Zine Festival. This two-day community event features an exciting mix of short and feature-length films from the US and around the globe\, spotlighting women’s and LGBTQ+ narratives and Borderlands perspectives. The festival also includes a day-long Zine Fest\, where independent artists and writers share self-published works—zines—that blend storytelling\, visual art\, comics\, and personal expression in inventive and accessible formats. \n\n\n\nEngage with visiting filmmakers\, zinesters\, and special guests through screenings\, presentations\, and Q&As\, including: \n\n\n\nNicole J. Georges: Nicole J. Georges is an award-winning graphic memoirist\, zinester\, podcaster\, and educator. Known for her Lambda Literary Award-winning Calling Dr. Laura and Fetch: How a Bad Dog Brought Me Home\, her work blends humor\, vulnerability\, and sharp insight. \n\n\n\nTony Candelaria: Tony Candelaria is a NM Borderlands-born artist whose imaginative work spans sculpture\, puppetry\, and film. His creative fingerprints appear in Coraline\, ParaNorman\, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio\, David Lynch’s Rabbits\, and Apple TV+’s Shape Island. \n\n\n\nStef Choi: Stef Choi is a character designer\, filmmaker\, ceramicist\, and zine creator based in Los Angeles. She has contributed to animated classics including Coraline\, The Boxtrolls\, and Rugrats (2021)\, working with LAIKA\, Disney TV\, Marvel\, and more. Her graphic memoir zine series Jelly Cake offers a vivid blend of tenderness\, visual wit\, and personal storytelling. \n\n\n\nCassils: NMSU UAM and FBA present Movement II (Half Life)\, a recent film work by internationally renowned Trans* artist Cassils\, filmed at White Sands National Park. This powerful visual meditation on land\, history\, and embodiment is paired with an exclusive video interview with the artist offering insight into Cassils’s performance practice and creative process. \n\n\n\nPlus Q&As with visiting directors and actors featured in festival films. \n\n\n\nZine Fest: On Saturday\, June 7\, from 11 AM to 5 PM\, browse and buy zines from a wide range of independent creators. Most exhibitors accept cash\, with many also offering Venmo\, PayPal\, or other options. \n\n\n\nThis Pride-aligned festival is a space for everyone—whether you’re a film enthusiast\, zine collector\, woman\, LGBTQ+ community member\, ally\, or curious newcomer. Come as you are\, or as you want to be. Dress to stand out—our photo op space is ready to capture the moment and your style.

SUMMARY:"Chosen Family" United by Harmony\, Bound by Love: A Choral Tribute to Identity\, Connection\, and Belonging
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our upcoming concerts “Chosen Family: United by Harmony\, Bound by Love: A Choral Tribute to Identity\, Connection\, and Belonging. \n\n\n\nThis Pride season is more important than ever. We’re living through a time unlike any other; a time in which all of us but especially the most vulnerable in our community are under attack\, and our history is being challenged\, distorted\, and erased. Pride has always been a protest\, a celebration\, and a reminder of our resilience as a community. This year\, it must also be a call to action. To stand up. To speak out. To protect one another and to make sure our stories\, our truth\, and our voices are never silenced. \n\n\n\nAt the concert there’s lots to do besides listening to these incredible singers. We will have refreshments and a silent auction for you to enjoy during intermission\, the proceeds of which go directly to our GALA Fund. This fund is saved and only used to help us take the choir to perform at the GALA Choruses Festival 2028 in Minneapolis. At the concert you can support the choir and have a little fun for yourself as well by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets. Raffle tickets can only be purchased with cash because after intermission we will split the pot. 50% of the cash raised goes to support the choir and the other 50% goes to the lucky audience member with the winning raffle ticket. We will also have some Singing Out Merchandise\, information about how to join the choir\, or become a 5th Section volunteer! \n\n\n\nWe can’t wait to have you with us as part of our Singing Out Chosen Family.
